The Greedy Ones

One of my favorite blogs is Michael Yon's Online Magazine. Yon is an ex-soldier who is now an embedded combat journalist and photographer in Iraq. The fact that he's an ex-soldier does not stop him from criticizing the military to the point where they almost kicked him out of the country.

Yon posted a while back about a random encounter he had with a Polish woman in India and later Nepal. The end of the story, unfortunately, is not so pretty. Read it and you'll exactly who The Greedy Ones are.

Baby Dragonflies.....

Went outside today to take some more flower photos...

when I notice some small, very shiny insects hanging out on my tomato plant. I decided to put the camera into macro mode and see if I could figure out what they were. It was clear enough after I cropped the photos.

Not too bad for handheld shots, I think if I'd have been able to shoot it with a tripod the details would have been even better.

Jorge and Katherine's wedding

One of my best friends got married this past weekend. Here are a few snapshots from the wedding and reception

Flower shots

I took these out in the backyard. These are crops of the originals.

This shot I took very quickly at my friend's wedding this weekend:

Pesto making....

The basil plant we bought is growing so well that I decided to make pesto the other night. If you've never made your own, it's probably the easiest thing you can make (provided you have a food processor.)

Pull off two cupfuls of leaves and add a clove of garlic, two tablespoons of parmesan cheese, two tablespoons of roasted pine nuts and some salt and pepper. Put it all in the food processor:

Blend it and then blend as you add two tablespoons of olive oil through the top. This is the result:

While I made the pesto and cooked the pasta, Pam made us a snack. Again, very simple. A whole wheat baguette and some blue cheese, toasted in the oven:

For pasta, we had angel hair mixed with the pesto and some delicious olives. The pasta was a little dry and like a dumbass I dumped all the pasta water so I couldn't moisten it. I won't do that again.

Good Times

It's a pretty simple recipe really.

Take some sushi-grade tuna and apply sesame oil, sesame seeds, wasabi and fresh cracked pepper:

Grill:

Then enjoy some single malt scotch:

With a nice mild cigar:

And you're all set (like Matt here)
